Inspect the unit, common areas, parking, noise, internet options, safety features, maintenance, and neighborhood before applying.
Inside the apartment
- Test faucets, hot water, drains, and water pressure
- Check windows, locks, doors, and screens
- Look inside cabinets and under sinks
- Test appliances, outlets, lighting, and air conditioning
- Listen for noise from hallways, roads, elevators, and nearby units
- Confirm the exact view and natural light
Common areas and operations
- Inspect elevators, hallways, trash rooms, and package areas
- Ask about maintenance response times
- Verify amenity hours and guest rules
- Check parking access and guest parking
- Ask where deliveries and rideshare pickups occur
Before leaving
Photograph the unit number and any information provided by the leasing office. Request the current price, floor plan, fee sheet, availability date, lease term, and concession in writing.
